Fifteen Porsches, Five Days, One Lake

We rolled out of Las Vegas on Labor Day, and the timing could not have been better. The second week of September delivered perfect weather and open road, without the tourist crowds.

Carson City was base camp. From there, the days belonged to the drives: out to Virginia City, then on to the shores of Lake Tahoe.

Then came the BBQ. Peter and Jackie George, who moved to Sparks from Las Vegas last year, opened their home and laid out a spread that was nothing short of over-the-top.

And the cars. Fifteen Porsches in a blaze of color, running together mile after mile. On the highway and at every rest stop, heads turned.
